Is Desa ParkCity a good place to live? For families who want a quiet, walkable neighbourhood, usually yes. As of October 2026, living in Desa ParkCity means a 473-acre freehold township in north-west Kuala Lumpur built around a central park and lake, with an international school, a private hospital and a lakeside dining strip inside it. The trade-off is that it sits away from the city centre and most residents drive.

This guide covers what the township offers, how people get around, who it suits, and what a condo costs, using the Desa ParkCity unit we currently market on ogprop.my.

What is Desa ParkCity?

Desa ParkCity is a master-planned township developed by Perdana ParkCity, part of the Sarawak-based Samling Group. According to EdgeProp's Desa ParkCity area page, the developer acquired the land — then an active quarry — in 1999, and the township covers 473 acres of freehold land with residential, commercial, education and leisure phases.

What is there to do and use inside the township?

Most daily needs are within the township itself, which is the main reason people choose it:

  • The Central Park — the green core of Desa ParkCity, with a lake and a jogging path around it.
  • The Waterfront @ ParkCity — shops, cafés and restaurants facing the lake.
  • The International School @ ParkCity — an international school for ages 3 to 18 that opened in September 2011 and is accredited for Cambridge and AQA exams (details).
  • ParkCity Medical Centre — a private hospital with 300 beds when it was officially opened in September 2013, according to Sime Darby's launch release.

How do you get around from Desa ParkCity?

Mostly by car. EdgeProp lists the LDP, the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2), Penchala Link, DUKE and the Sprint Highway as the main roads serving the township. For public transport, iProperty's listing data names the Sri Damansara Sentral and Sri Damansara Barat MRT stations (Putrajaya Line) and KTM Kepong as the nearest stations — useful, but not walking distance from most homes, so test your commute at peak hour before you commit.

Is Desa ParkCity good for families?

For many families, yes: a park at the centre, a school and a hospital inside the township, and quieter streets than the city's condo hubs. Here is how it compares with Mont Kiara, the other area families most often shortlist:

About The Westside Two: a freehold condominium on Jalan Residen Utama developed by Perdana Park City Sdn Bhd. iProperty project data lists 338 units over 41 floors, completed in 2015. Facilities include a swimming pool, gym, tennis court, BBQ area, 24-hour security and covered parking.

Before you make an offer, add the purchase costs to the price — stamp duty on the transfer, legal fees and loan costs. Run your own numbers on our stamp duty and legal fee calculators, and read stamp duty and legal fees for home buyers in 2026. Foreign buyers should also read what it costs a foreigner to buy a condo in KL.

What should you check before buying or renting here?

  1. Which part of the township. Walking distance to the park, the Waterfront and the school varies a lot between projects. Walk the route yourself.
  2. Facing and noise. Park-facing, township-facing and highway-facing units feel very different. Visit at different times of day.
  3. Age and condition. Older projects need a closer look (The Westside Two, for example, was completed in 2015): inspect renovation, built-ins and common areas.
  4. Maintenance fees and sinking fund. Ask for the current monthly charges for the exact unit and include them in your holding cost.
  5. The commute. Drive your work and school routes at rush hour before signing.
  6. For tenants: read our guide to deposits, tenancy agreements and stamp duty in 2026.
